Authors are kindly invited to present papers related to the following technical areas:

  • 3D & 4D body and 3D & 4D face scanning methods, systems and technologies
  • 3D body processing methods and technologies
  • Machine learning and artificial intelligence for 3D body scanning and processing
  • 3D body modeling, 3D body visualization, 3D body printing methods and technologies
  • Active and passive 3D scanning technologies for the human body (full body, bust, face, legs, feet, etc.)
  • 4D scanning, volumetric capture and MOCAP technologies for the human body
  • Mobile/portable and hand-held human body scanning and measurement systems, devices, solutions
  • Full body scanning and measurement systems for the apparel and fashion sector
  • Applications in medical sciences (plastic surgery, orthotics, prosthetics, forensics, etc.)
  • Foot scanning and measurement systems for footwear, sport and orthopedics
  • Digital anthropometry, anthropometric studies, ergonomics
  • Body measurement and sizing campaigns, fitting mannequins
  • Biometrics and applications in security
  • Applications in sport, health and fitness
  • Applications in virtual life, games, FX and entertainment
  • Applications in social sciences, and communications

Authors wishing to present their works (personally onsite or remotely online) at the conference are invited to submit their extended abstract(s) to the conference office. Extended abstract should consists of 250-500 words and images.

The extended abstracts should be sent by e-mail to the conference office until 31 May 2021.

1. Author(s) (please underline correspondent author)
2. Affiliation, full address and e-mails for correspondence
3. Title of paper

Please also indicate if the presentation will be held at the conference presumably personally onsite or remotely online.

Important note

It is expected that one of the authors presents the paper (personally onsite or remotely online) at the conference. Please plan to attend the whole 2-days conference, as changes in the program (e.g. switching of technical sessions) are possible until few days before the conference.

Acceptance process, conference proceedings, ISBN, DOIs, online papers & presentations

The submitted extended abstracts will be evaluated and reviewed for acceptance. Authors of accepted abstracts should submit full papers following the given guidelines.

The submitted papers will be published as conference proceedings with ISBN number, available in digital form (on USB flash drive and/or FTP download).
DOI (digital object identification) numbers will be assigned to the single published papers.
The abstracts, papers and recorded presentations will be available online at the website 3dbody.tech/cap.

The works presented at the conference will be differentiated into three groups: accepted papers (upon review of the submitted extended abstracts), invited speaker presentations (with or without papers), technical presentations (mainly from exhibitors, eventually without papers).

A limited number of selected papers may be chosen for an additional academic volume. These papers will have to pass a peer review process by the scientific/technical committee before publication.

All the submitted abstracts and papers have to be presented, onsite personally or remotely online, by one of the authors. Please plan to attend the whole 2-days conference, as changes in the program are possible until few days before the conference.
Reduced registration fees are available for speakers/presenters: registration.

Guidelines for full paper/manuscript preparation and submission

All full papers/written submissions for inclusion in the proceedings of the conference must follow the guidelines provided by the template document:

Registration required

All accepted abstracts/papers/presentations have to be presented personally onsite or remotely online by one of the authors. Please plan to attend the whole 2-days conference, as changes in the program are possible until few days before the conference.
Note: a valid COVID-19 certificate (vaccination, test or recovery) is required to access 3DBODY.TECH 2021 onsite. Further details are available at: Venue / COVID-19.

Presenters/speakers have therefore to submit a signed consent and release form.

Authors/speakers presenting their works online are required to submitt their presentation video.

Guidelines for oral and online presentations

All technical sessions will be happening simultaneously onsite at the convention center and live-streamed on the online conference platform. Both onsite and online participants will be able to see the presentations live and interact with the onsite and online speakers.

Onsite presentation will be held by onsite speakers as usual live in the conference room, recorded and live streamed on the online conference platform.

Online presentations will be composed of prerecorded videos followed by live discussion with the online speaker via Zoom; all simultaneously projected in the conference room and live streamed on the online conference platform.

The entire sessions with discussion will be recorded and uploaded to the online conference platform.

Oral presentations

Oral presentation should be approx. 18 minutes long. This will allow additional 4 minutes for questions and discussion. Note: less or additional time may be available depending on the session.

Please ensure you arrive before the start of the session in which you are presenting and introduce yourself to the chair of the session. Note: chairmen will be listed in the final program.

No specific template is defined for the presentations. Presenters can freely design and setup them according to his/her style.

Windows Laptops with MS Powerpoint will be available in the conference rooms. Please bring backups of your presentation on USB flash drive. We suggest however the authors to bring and use their own laptop to avoid compatibility problems (e.g. different versions of Powerpoint, linked files, videos, etc.).

LCD projectors in the conference rooms have HDMI connection and 16:9 display mode.

Important note for laptops and tablets: please bring the necessary adapters in order to connect your device with projectors featuring HDMI plug.

Please note that electricity in Switzerland operates on 220-240 Volts AC 50HZ and that Swiss 3-poles electric plugs are different from European-style plugs. Please bring with you the necessary adapters.

Online presentations

Online presentation should consist of a pre-recorded video presentation of maximal 18 minutes. This will be followed by additional 4 minutes for questions and live discussion via web conferencing. Note: less or additional time may be available depending on the session.

Pre-recorded video presentations should be prepared as video files (MP4, AVI) and sent by file sharing system (3dbodytech.wetransfer.com) to the conference office. No specific template is defined for the presentations. Presenters can freely design and setup it according to his/her style. Preferably include also a video narration (e.g. presenter captured by a webcam) which will make the presentation more alive.

Note: MS PowerPoint allows to record video and/or audio narration running through a presentation.
