November 21 - Conference successfully closed

The 4th International Conference and Exhibition on 3D Body Scanning Technologies was successfully closed on the evening of 20th November 2013.

203 participants from 25 different countries attended/visited the two days conference and exhibition in Long Beach CA, USA.

The conference started with an opening session with a keynote presentation of Prof. Kathleen Robinette from the Oklahoma State University (USA), regarding 3D body scanning, past and future.
The very dense program included 14 technical sessions, with about 70 technical and scientific presentations. The topics discussed regarded: medical scanning systems, medical applications, full body scanning, scanning systems & technologies, body scanning for apparel, digital anthropometry, size surveys, kinect scanning and others.

The conference was accompanied by an exhibition where 10 manufactures were presenting and demonstrating their body scanning systems. The major technologies were represented: laser scanning, white-light scanning, active and passive photogrammetry, depth sensor based scanning, application software. The application sectors were also various, from apparel to medicine, from entertainment to anthropometry and others.

Seven manufacturers have chosen this event to announce/launch/present/demonstrate for the first time worldwide publically new developments, new products, new solutions, new results.

The conference confirmed also this year to be the most important international event focused on 3D body scanning technologies.

Proceedings:

The proceedings of the conference (ISBN 978-3-033-04300-8) are available as hard copy (484 pages, b/w) and/or in digital form (PDF files, color) on USB-flash drive or CD-rom (PDFs, color).

(2) The potential for dense dynamic 4D surface capture, illustrated with actual case studies, many of which have never been seen before publically.

The preliminary program of the conference is structured, during two full days, in an opening session, 14 technical sessions in dual track and 1 poster session with live demonstrations, accommodating in total more than 70 scientific and technical presentations.
Keynote speeches and presentations from invited speakers will enrich the program.
Live demonstrations will take place during the poster session. Presenters will have the opportunity to demonstrate live simple scanning systems and solutions.
The parallel technical exhibition will allows manufacturers of scanning equipment to present and demonstrate live their products and solutions during both days to all attendees/visitors/participants.

July 23 - Submission of abstracts closed

Submission of abstracts is now closed and the preliminary conference program is being prepared.
The number of received abstracts (about 70) is over our expectations. The 4th International Conference on 3D Body Scanning Technologies promises therefore to be a very successful event during two intensive days and with a rich program of 14 technical sessions and one poster session with interesting presentations and live demonstrations of equipment.
The relevant main sectors of 3D body scanning will be covered: face and body scanning for medicine, body scanning for fashion and apparel, digital anthropometry and body size measurement campaigns, new body scanning systems and technologies, body scanning with Kinect, and more.
The conference will have a strong international character with authors and participants from all over the world.

July 1 - Abstract submission deadline extended until July 22nd

The number of abstracts received until now (more than 50) is already over our expectations.
The conference promises therefore to be a successful event with a full program of 14 technical sessions with presentations covering relevant sectors of 3D body scanning, as face and body scanning for medicine, body scanning for fashion and apparel, digital anthropometry and body size measurement campaigns, new body scanning systems, body scanning with Kinect.
The conference will also have a marked international character with authors and participants from all over the world.
Upon various requests from private firms, universities and institutions, the deadline for abstract submission has been extended until July 22nd.

April 2 - Location and venue

The location of the conference 3DBST2013 will be Long Beach which is located in Southern California, USA, on the Pacific coast, just 20 miles (35 km) south of Los Angeles. Long Beach brings both the "big city" downtown feel with the charm of a seaside community. It benefits from the sunny forecasts and warm temperatures around the year that Southern California is known for: a great escapade from cold November climate in many parts around the world.

The conference and exhibition will take place on the third level of the Westin Long Beach hotel, which is centrally located, only steps away from shops, entertainment and many restaurants. The location provides easy access to the Aquarium and Queen Mary; additionally, the Westin is less than a quarter mile from the sand, ideal for morning runs, biking or leisurely walks.

The 4th International Conference and Exhibition on 3D Body Scanning Technologies will take place from 19 to 21 November 2013, in Orange County, California, USA.
The first three international conferences were all largely attended with stable numbers of 200 participants and 60 technical/scientific presentations. The conference and exhibition will take place this year for the first time in North America. The numbers of attendees, authors and exhibitors are therefore expected to grow substantially.

Authors wishing to present their works at the conference are invited to submit their extended abstract before June 30.

For sponsors and exhibitors we offer three different packages: GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE.
Important note: 30% discount is offered on the basic fees by registering before June 1st.

Within the technical program of 3DBST conference, 1-2 special sessions will be organized by the WEAR (World Engineering Anthropometry Resource) group, focused on applications of anthropometry data for design purposes.

October 18 - 3DBST2012 successfully closed



The 3rd International Conference and Exhibition on 3D Body Scanning Technologies was successfully closed on the evening of 17th October 2012.

The conference confirmed also this year to be the most important international event for the sector of 3D body scanning technology.

198 participants from 31 different countries attended/visited the two days conference and exhibition in Lugano, Switzerland.

The 14 technical sessions, with 58 technical and scientific presentations, were well attended. The topics discussed regarded: medical scanning systems, medical applications, full body scanning, body scanning for apparel, digital anthropometry, applications in health and sport, body scanning systems, Kinect body scanning and others.

Compared to last year, the number of attendees and exhibitors remained stable, regardless of the present economical crisis.
